We were living in a duplex in Lakewood, Ohio. I was in kindergarten and my older cousins had come to visit.
It was a clear, warm summer night and the fireflies were dancing around. Magically lighting the night sky.
I reached my hand out and one landed on my palm. I giggled as it walked along my hand, its light glittering.
My cousin then came up and grabbed the firefly from me, squashed it, and wiped the glow on my shirt. She smiled, proudly at the cool trick she performed, as she ran up the driveway.
