I think most people can’t stand Valentine’s Day.
If you are a couple, well, you better get some damn chocolates and have a stupid dinner. If you are single…. what’s wrong with you?
Tez and I have always had the worst luck on Valentine’s day. Before moving to Nashville we lived in Kent, Ohio. The first two years we were together we made plans to have dinner and each year we couldn’t even see each other due to blizzards. We were literally snowed in.
So, we decided to move to Nashville where surely snow couldn’t keep us apart. Our first Valentine’s day we made plans to meet up later in the day for dinner. Again with the dinners! Anyways, I ended up getting stuck at the hospital when my Dad got called in for an emergency appointment. Long story short, no Valentine's day dinner. It seems like the universe was telling us this day sucks, don’t do it!
We’ve been together now for almost 10 years and every year Valentine’s day gives me the creeps. All the weird stuffed animals, the hearts, and the baby with an arrow? Come. On. You can't tell me you actually like that stuff.
But, this is the first year I am actually excited for our Valentine’s day plans. We are not buying gifts and we definitely aren’t making dinner reservations. We are going to a freakin haunted house, in February, and it’s going to be awesome.
I should probably tell you I have absolutely no affiliation with the haunted house whatsoever. I am not trying to promote it and I should probably just stop talking about it. I think it just opened up my world of fun things to do besides making dinner reservations. So, here's my list of weird, but fun, things to do on Valentine's day.
1. Lock eyes with someone while you sing them romantic songs in a Karaoke bar. Good for singles and couples!
2. Take it back to the old school and watch some quality 90's television. Are you Afraid of the Dark, Goosebumps, Fresh Prince... you get the idea. Throw in some Slimer Bubble Gum and you'll be all set.
3. Relive the first time you met with a beer bong and some bad decisions.
Welp, that's all I got. Happy terrible Valentine's Day!
